We LOVED reading about E&D Pizza Company's now famous pizza, appearing in hardcover book: “The Pursuit of Pizza: Recipes from the World Pizza Champions." “The Positano” is a thin crusted white pizza topped with goat cheese, black mission figs, red onion, finished with a drizzle of pepper infused hot honey. We have thousands of incredible chefs in Connecticut who exemplify the Maker Spirit that is the identity of our small and mighty state. These are folks who not only nourish our bodies, but our souls and communities as well. Chef Renee Touponce exemplifies this longstanding Nutmeg tradition. Chef Renee’s relentless dedication to showcasing Connecticut’s finest ingredients, from vibrant agriculture to our world class seafood — oysters, fish, and clams — demonstrates to America that our home state is a first-class culinary destination. Both in and out of the kitchen, she creates a welcoming environment where everyone can thrive, regardless of gender or ethnicity. Chef Renee’s work, and that of her team on behalf of the Human Rights Council, is a testament to how chefs can be leaders both inside and outside of the kitchen. We need more people like her in communities across America. I'm proud of Renee, her partner Jade Ayala, and our team at the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development for capturing the essence of their wonderful story in a way that captures the importance of community and creativity in Connecticut. #Connecticut #MakeItHere Connecticut Office of Tourism The James Beard Foundation Dan Meiser #Chef #Cooking #Hospitality #Restaurants Connecticut Restaurant Association Scott Dolch

New Haven was cold and wet yesterday, but always worth the trip for a fundraising dinner with Scott Dolch and the Connecticut Restaurant Association. So appreciative of everyone who came out to support the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Advocacy Fund. Amazing dishes from Union League Cafe (thank you Christina Fitzgerald!) paired with great wines. Thanks to the leadership of Scott, Keith Beaulieu and Tim Adams in raising needed dollars to fund our advocacy mission. Only regret... no time to try New Haven pizza! #nexttime
